This is one of the few places in English on the web that talks about akebi! My mother in law in Akita sent a food parcel the other day with wild akebi. She suggested cooking it like miso nasu, which I did for breakfast this morning. Very tasty.

I’ve grown akebi in the south of england as an ornamental plant for years without having any idea that the fruits are edible. It’s loaded with green fruit right now, so I can’t wait for it to ripen!

Perfect timing my grandfather just brought a few of these home and I was trying to figure out what they were. They look like passionfruits on the inside, but they taste totally different. The ones he picked were red though…
