Hi Christa,
Yeah, ah be careful with 'SMASH! SMASH!', it sounds very violent to Japanese.
Thank you for adding KF to your blogroll!
...
Oh! you are ISAAC STUDIO? Those are some hot photos! I was admiring them the other day.

Hi Lori,
I love the Kona Coffee Dark Chocolate Cake with Macadamia Nut Sauce! Gotta try that one!
Bean shooting elephant, I suppose the elephant gets a kick out of that too.

On the news last night I saw a zoo in Japan trained an elephant to shoot the beans out with his trunk! They said it was really hard to train him to do that because they always wanted to just eat it. :)

I love the "ONI's EYE BALL - Smash Smash" part the most. Maybe I should try to come to Japan during the Traditional New Year so I can say it too. :)

FYI, I have added your blog to mine.

Hi Kat,
I want to go again. I was there on Sunday and it was SOOOOO packed that I just had a quick look around near the entrance. It looked amazing. I thought it WAS for Valentine's Day though.

Hello Cindy,
You saw it on TV when you were little? Not in Japan, I take it.
Yes, it is an A-OK festival. When you try it be sure to say, "<em>Oni</em>’s eyeballs — SMASH! SMASH!"

I love it,
When I was little, I always saw that "throwing beans" action on TV shows or in comic books, but I never really know about the whole process.
Now that after your detailed explanation,
I finally understand this tradition, and I love it,
Wish one day I can get a chance of celebrating it in Japan!

Hi Kat,
Yeah, I know! Doesn't it look like someone invented a new and fantastic machine?
Once on NHK, I saw this documentary program about the inventor that has more patents for <em>wagashi</em> making machines than anyone else. It was AMAZING!
Maybe he got into eggs recently?
Oh, I was over at Isetan the other day and saw that Salon du Chocolat dealie that I learned about from your blog. Whoa! That is a heck or a lot of chocolate, and so beautiful!
I wish there was a way to quantify how much energy is spent in Japan on developing new food and making food beautiful.
